Pleasantly surprised at the comprehensiveness of this beginner's book. Starts slow for us newbies and builds topic by topic - tunings, scales and easy first pieces evolve toward basic music theory, notation and more challenging exercises. You can listen online or download all of the music, a great help to those of us who want a sense of the music behind those notes. A very thorough and helpful guide to the dulcimer.

Sometime ago I ordered a double dulcimer case from another dealer.it arrived with the hooks but without the straps. I ordered another set from Folkcraft. They are always so friendly and helpful. They want to make sure you are getting what you want. I enjoy purchasing from them.
The straps arrived very quickly, they fit my dulcimer case perfectly and I no longer have to carry two dulcimers on my shoulder. The weight is so much better on my back. I will always call them first if I have a musical need.

Fun book of tunes not too difficult great for beginners ! CDs are good for hearing what the tune sounds like before trying to play. Wish it came digital.

I love the strings from Folkcraft. I always buy them in bulk (12 each) when I receive them I put them in their sets, which gives me 12 sets of strings for considerably cheaper than buying one set at a time. They are very high quality.

Great tabs for wonderful songs. Really nice to play by yourself or with friends.

I likely won't get all of them, but "Baker's Dozen #1 Celtic Music" by Shelley Stevens is my third Baker's Dozen book. Two jigs in the book qualify as covering the cost of admission: Swallow Tail Jig and Black Nag, which is double jig. Both require using a capo on the first fret, but no other songs need one. Many of the tunes require strumming brightly and are quite lively. I was even able to create a pleasing medley by combining the book's The Sally Gardens with a version of Sally in the Garden.

I didn’t think I “needed” or was going to buy another dulcimer…until I saw the Lap-Jo Pro in the Folkcraft newsletter of Feb 21, 2025. I thought it would be neat to have a dulcimer that sounded like a banjo, so I ordered it. It is beautiful! I have had so much fun trying new songs that sound really cool on the Lap-Jo. My next purchase will be a small Fishman amp to go with it!

Now I don't have to worry about, "where did I leave that pick?". I have picks stashed in my dulcimer bag, on my music stand, and extras. I really haven't been able to tell the flexibility difference between the colors, so I use them all!
